BREAKING: Kwankwaso Seeks Review Of The Kano Gov. Election Petition, At The Supreme Court
The National Leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has sought the support of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Leadership, for the review of Kano Governorship election petition at the Supreme Court.
Senator Kwankwaso, along with the PDP Governorship Candidate, Engr. Abba K. Yusuf, also known as Abba Gida Gida, and other prominent PDP Stakeholders from Kano State, paid a solidarity visit to the National Executive Council, NEC, in Abuja.
Senator Kwankwaso appealed to the National Working Committee, NWC, to as a matter of responsibility, facilitate the process of the Supreme Court’s review on the Kano election petition. He lamented that Kano people were robbed of their mandate, through voter disenfranchisement and manipulation of the judicial processes.
Responding, the National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, who was represented by his Deputy, Senator Suleiman Nazif, said that the PDP has taken Kano as the major support base in Northern Nigeria, and will do everything within the confines of the law to protect the party’s interests in the State.
Senator Nazif applauded Kwankwaso for his tenacity in leading the party to victory in the 2019 Governorship election.
“Your Excellency, let me also use this opportunity to thank you for your efforts in promoting education, not only in Kano, but Northern Nigeria; we have seen for the first time, how a private citizen who is not holding any political Office, supports the children of the poor to pursue education. Sir, I will on behalf of the party, thank you for sponsoring 370 students to study Masters Degrees in various Universities abroad.”
The National Chairman of the party, decried the injustice meted on Kano people during the rerun election, and using the State’s apparatus to sabotage the PDP’s victory.
“I similarly appreciate our amiable Governorship in Kano State, Engr. Abba K. Yusuf, for becoming the most popular Candidate in Northern Nigeria. Abba Gida Gida has become a prominent brand beyond Kano State, which makes us proud.”
Senator Nazif assured the visiting team that the request for filing a review at the Supreme Court, would be tabled before the National Working Committee for approval.
“I foresee a very positive outcome on this request, because it was clear that PDP had won election in Kano”, he confirmed.
While delivering his vote of thanks, the PDP Governorship Candidate for Kano State, Engr. Abba K. Yusuf, appreciated the National Executive Council members for their efforts in keeping the party as one united entity.
“I want to confirm to you that PDP has also remained united in Kano State, we thank you for sparing your time to receive us.”
